Strategy & Signals

How are you all handling the low-volatility weeks?

ssl_owen 6h ago 2.4k views

We've had a stretch of quiet, range-bound weeks in semis and the system has mostly sat in cash or chopped on a couple of small signals. Nothing wrong; this is what it's supposed to do; but psychologically the flat stretches are harder for me than the drawdowns.

How do you keep yourself from tinkering when the system is just waiting? Looking for the mental models people use, not strategy changes.

I reframe flat periods as the system protecting capital. No signal means no edge present. Tinkering during these weeks is how people blow up an account that was doing exactly what it should.

I literally close the platform and only open it after the close to check for alerts. Less screen time, fewer bad ideas.

Both helpful. The 'no signal means no edge' framing is the one I needed today.
